Fall Class Offerings

Fall Semester Production: Disney’s Mary Poppins Jr.

Based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and the Broadway musical that played for over 2,500 performances and received multiple Olivier and Tony Awards nominations, Cameron Mackintosh and Disney's Mary Poppins is capturing hearts in a  Broadway Junior musical!

Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."

Elementary Theatre 101: Kindergarten - 4th Grade

Perfect for students who are brand new to the stage! Elementary Theatre 101 introduces young performers to the foundations of theatre in a fun, encouraging, and structured environment. Students will explore acting, movement, storytelling, creative play, stage directions, teamwork, and basic performance skills while building confidence and learning how to work as part of an ensemble.

This one-hour weekly class is designed to help students grow comfortable in a theatre setting before moving into larger productions. The semester will conclude with a special in-studio showcase for family and friends!

Middle School Theatre 101: 5th - 8th Grade

Middle School Theatre 101 is the perfect starting point for students who are interested in theatre but may not yet have stage experience. This class focuses on the fundamentals of acting and performance while also teaching important rehearsal skills such as stage etiquette, collaboration, focus, character development, projection, and confidence on stage. Students will participate in theatre games, scene work, improvisation, and creative activities in a supportive environment designed to prepare them for future productions and performance opportunities. This one-hour weekly class ends with a studio showcase at the end of the semester for family and friends to enjoy.

Center Stage: Kindergarten - 4th Grade

This is the perfect class for elementary students ready to take center stage! In Center Stage, Kindergarten–4th graders will explore the magical world of theater through imaginative play, creative movement, music, storytelling, and beginner acting techniques. As they progress, they will dive into character development, storytelling, movement, and voice work. Each week, students will collaborate on scenes and play engaging theatre games that build confidence, creativity, and stage presence. This class will conclude with participation in the semester production.

Next Act: 5th - 8th Grade

Middle schoolers will stretch their skills and imagination in Next Act! This dynamic theatre class offers students a deeper dive into acting technique, script work, character building, improvisation, and ensemble collaboration. This class will conclude with participation in the semester production.

Main Stage: 9th - 12th Grade

For teens ready to refine their performance skills, Mainstage Players offers a focused, supportive environment where high school students can challenge themselves as actors and collaborators. This class emphasizes scene study, script analysis, ensemble work, and performance technique—including voice, movement, and emotional connection. This class will conclude with participation in the semester production.

Homeschool: All Ages

Spotlight Children’s Theatre is excited to offer homeschool theatre classes this fall for students of all ages! Classes are grouped by age to provide age-appropriate instruction and experiences (Center Stage, Next Act, Main Stage) but we also offer a mixed-age option—perfect for families who prefer to keep all their homeschool students together in one class (One Act). Whether your child is just starting out or already loves the stage, there’s a place for them at Spotlight! We are a Step Up for Students provider!

International Thespian Society Troupe: 6th - 12th Grade

Spotlight Children’s Theatre is proud to officially offer opportunities through the International Thespian Society! This class is designed for middle and high school students who are interested in participating in Junior Thespian Festival and Senior Thespian Festival events, including students who are homeschooled or attend schools without active theatre or thespian programs.

Students will receive coaching and preparation in performance categories such as monologues, musical theatre solos and duets, acting scenes, and other festival events while also learning audition techniques, stage presence, confidence, and performance professionalism. In addition to competition preparation, students will gain valuable theatre training and have opportunities to connect with other passionate young performers in the community.

This class is ideal for students looking to challenge themselves, grow as performers, and experience the excitement and educational opportunities offered through Thespian festivals and events. Participation in festivals, troupe events, and induction opportunities will be available for eligible students through Spotlight’s official troupe.
